Despite today’s challenging economy, things aren’t looking so bad for manufacturers. In fact, manufacturing has been strong enough to partly prop up the stock market during an otherwise dismal time.
The Associated Press notes that U.S. stocks could have been much worse off at the end of the third quarter had it not been for a noticeable pickup in manufacturing, which beat Wall Street estimates. If the economic slump has a silver lining, it’s that materials are less expensive, and consumers and businesses alike are able to place larger orders for manufactured goods.
